In memoriam Algirdas Doveika
The piece has been commissioned by the family of the clarinetist Algirdas Doveika, the keen performer of Lithuanian music. Written as the in memoriam after his tragic death, the composition interprets the ideas of the Jacob’s Ladder and the Angels of the Apocalypse, both made into sonic symbols.
The initial version of the piece, for chamber ensemble, has been performed in Vilnius, Zagreb, Kyiv, etc. Later on, in response to some performers’ suggestions, the composer offered two more compact versions, for piano solo, and for violin and piano.
