In an attempt to get rid of the stereotyped mechanicity and sterility of electronic sound production, Vytautas V. Jurgutis has always striven to convert the electronic sound into some kind of ‘organic’ and ‘volatile’ substances. And vice versa: his chamber and orchestral works often feature structures and sonorities similar to the ones used in his electronic music. In some cases this ‘reciprocal interaction’ is tangible enough to make those compositions sound as electronic music transcribed for acoustic instruments.

This particular composition gives, perhaps, a most striking example of such tried-and-tested symbiosis between electronic and acoustic sonorities. The cello part is a true tour de force for the soloist. At the same time, it is amalgamated with electronics in such a masterful way that it is not always easy to distinguish the sound of a live instrument from the accompanying electronic fabric.
