Gediminas Rimkus Rimkevičius

Highly versatile stylistically and genre-wise, Gediminas Rimkus-Rimkevičius is one of the Lithuanian composers of his generation who combines composing with other activities, such as sound engineering and producing. He is eager to experiment by combining the principles of classic and contemporary academic music with a wide array of styles in modern pop music. As a music arranger and producer, he has taken part in dozens of concerts and other artistic events as well as projects for theatre and television.

Biography

Highly versatile stylistically and genre-wise, Gediminas Rimkus-Rimkevičius (b. 1964) is one of the Lithuanian composers of his generation who combines music writing with other activity, such as sound engineering and producing.

During his years of professional studies, from 1979 to 1992, Gediminas took courses in music theory, composition, and jazz piano. Later, he participated in the specialised courses for young composers in Edinburgh, lead by Sir Peter Maxwell Davies and featuring the Scottish Chamber Orchestra (1994). He also received additional training in composition at the Conservatory of Lyon in 2005.

Gediminas’ music has been performed at a number of festivals and other music events throughout Lithuania as well as abroad, including many European countries, Australia, Japan, Canada and the USA. In 1993, he became a laureate of the 2nd International Forum for Young Composers in Montreal, Canada.

As a composer, Gediminas is eager to experiment by combining the principles of classic and contemporary academic music with a wide array of styles in modern pop music. As a music arranger and producer, he has taken part in dozens of concerts and other artistic events as well as projects for theatre and television.
